In kindergarten I could draw things without being shown how. When I was 13, I realized the phenomenon of vision could be recreated by drawing the different shapes of colors and darks and lights presented to your eye. Since then, I have sought the skills to accomplish that. I majored in art despite the advice of my guidance counselor. I graduated from FSU with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 1993. I enjoy painting the world around me as a means of exploring and learning about it, but also as a way of embracing the mystery and the unknown even in the things closest to us. Moments of everyday magic that occur when light transforms the mundane to the divine are my favorite subjects.
My work is displayed at the Lyon Share Gallery in Fairhope, AL, the Studio Gallery in Grayton Beach, FL, and Southern Breeze Gallery in Jackson, MS. I typically paint five days a week. I enjoy teaching workshops and find that verbalizing the process of making art stimulates my own artistic growth.
